Bach celebrated in glorious baroque concerts

“It’s been a great week for local early music fans. They’re enjoying an unprecedented four-concert festival, “Sounds of the Baroque,” involving three San Diego organizations.

The first three concerts were a Bachapalooza.

On Thursday, the La Jolla Music Society presented jazz pianist Brad Mehldau playing Johann Sebastian Bach along with his own compositions and improvisations. On Friday, LJMS brought the baroque orchestra Tafelmusik to Sherwood Auditorium for a multimedia extravaganza about Bach and Leipzig, where he spent the last 27 years of his life.”
