The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center:
Mozart Connections

Marking the third performance in a four-concert Winter Season Residency, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is a multi-generational selection of expert chamber musicians capable of presenting chamber music of every instrumentation, style, and historical period.

“Mozart Connections” features Ani Kavafian and Arnaud Sussman, violins; Yura Lee, viola; Mihai Marica, cello; Tara Helen O’Connor, flute; and David Shifrin, clarinet, performing works by Mozart, Sebastian Currier, Joan Tower and Villa-Lobos.

Lecture by Benjamin Roe:

The Mozart Effect… and its After Effects in Chamber Music:
According to legend, Mozart loathed the flute and loved the clarinet. Nevertheless, not only did he write some of the most treasured works for both instruments, he redefined their sonic possibilities in ways that influenced composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Benjamin Roe examines the “Mozart Effect”, as well as the fascinating story of Mozart’s seemingly simple but enormously sophisticated Duos for violin and viola.
