FEATURING HELEN SUNG AND TADATAKA UNNO

FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2020 · 8 PM
The Baker-Baum Concert Hall

Named “jazz star of the future” by Wynton Marsalis, 28-year-old Christian Sands is one of the most in-demand jazz pianists, touring the world as a bandleader and appearing on records by Christian McBride and Gregory Porter. As the new Creative Ambassador for Octave Music’s Erroll Garner Jazz Projects, and the co-producer of the recent Erroll Garner release ‘Nightconcert’ (Mack Avenue Records), Christian Sands formed this special three piano program, choosing Helen Sung and Tadataka Unno to present audiences with a fresh take on legendary pianist/composer Erroll Garner, who remains one of the most important musical voices of the 20th century.

KENNY BARRON – DAVE HOLLAND TRIO
FEATURING JOHNATHAN BLAKE

SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2020 · 8 PM
The Baker-Baum Concert Hall

National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Kenny Barron, piano, and Dave Holland, bass, come together for a special performance. Each frequently dubbed as this generation’s best jazz musicians on their respective instruments, Barron and Holland form a duet that can often be described as seamless, or like two people who know each other so well they finish each other’s sentences. Their 2014 album, “The Art of Conversation,” proved just that.
