WinterFest Gala 2020 Save the Date

La Jolla Music Society
WinterFest Wonderland Gala
Thursday, February 6, 2020

Wendy Brody, Gala Chair

Don’t miss this unforgettable evening featuring a benefit concert by world-renowned Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov.

The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center will be transformed into a WinterFest Wonderland. We will begin with a reception and dinner of culinary delights inspired by St. Petersburg’s celebrated White Nights Festival. After an exhilarating performance by Daniil Trifonov, the festivities will continue in an after-party where we invite you to dance the night away.

Your support for this elegant evening of culture, arts and music provides the financial resources needed for La Jolla Music Society’s Education and Community Engagement Programs. Music affects the intellectual and emotional development of everyone, particularly children and especially children at risk. I hope you will join me and other like-minded supporters in raising the funds needed to bring impactful education programs throughout San Diego.

Bringing innovation to the tap tradition and paving the way for a new generation, Michelle Dorrance, founder and artistic director of Dorrance Dance, is one of the most acclaimed tap dancers and “one of the most imaginative tap choreographers working today” (The New Yorker). SOUNDspace, originally a site-specific work that explored the unique acoustics of New York City’s St. Mark’s Church, grows and adapts in this reinvention for The Baker-Baum Concert Hall. FEATURING JOHNATHAN BLAKE

SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2020 · 8 PM
The Baker-Baum Concert Hall

National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Kenny Barron, piano, and Dave Holland, bass, come together for a special performance. Each frequently dubbed as this generation’s best jazz musicians on their respective instruments, Barron and Holland form a duet that can often be described as seamless, or like two people who know each other so well they finish each other’s sentences. Their 2014 album, “The Art of Conversation,” proved just that.
