The Eclat Quartet is an ensemble of young performers from the United States, China and Bulgaria who are candidates for the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at Rice University. In this program they perform Brahms’ brilliantly structured masterwork, String Quartet in C Minor.

SummerFest showcases the work of three contemporary American composers, with three new quartets. Sean Shepherd offers Oboe Quartet, festival favorite Joan Tower is represented by White Granite, and famed film composer John Williams introduces Quartet La Jolla, a gift to SummerFest Music Director Cho-Lian Lin.

SummerFest celebrates the genius and legacy of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with performances of two of his most celebrated chamber works, the Trio in E-flat Major and the Serenade in B-flat Major (Gran Partita). Mozart’s youngest son, F.X. Mozart, is also represented by the sprightly Grand Sonate in E Major.

RAVEL: String Quartet in F Major

SummerFest La Jolla completes its gala 25th Anniversary Season with works by chamber music superstars Camille Saint-Saens and Felix Mendelssohn, and Romanian composer George Enescu. Performers include the renowned Tokyo String Quartet, SummerFest favorites Felix Fan and Cynthia Phelps, and Music Director Cho-Liang Lin.
