Clarinetist Teresa Reilly earned a Master of Music Degree in Clarinet Performance from Northwestern University where she studied with Charlene Zimmerman and a Bachelor of Science in Music Degree from DePaul University where she studied with John Bruce Yeh. In addition, she has pursued advanced musical studies with the clarinet virtuosa Sabine Meyer in Lübeck, Germany.
An avid chamber musician, Teresa has performed on diverse concert series, such as The Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, The St. James Cathedral series and The La Jolla Chamber Music SummerFest, and Fontana Chamber Arts. Together with clarinetist John Bruce Yeh, erhu virtuoso Wang Guowei and pipa virtuoso Yang Wei, Teresa recently formed “Birds and Phoenix,” an innovative quartet dedicated to bridging Eastern and Western musical cultures.
As a freelance musician, Teresa performs regularly with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and other Chicago area ensembles. Teresa has performed in Carnegie Hall several times with the CSO as part of the clarinet section, and can be heard on various CSO Resound recordings. Teresa has performed as a guest soloist with many ensembles in the midwest. Her playing is featured on the recording titled "Synergy," from the Naxos label, together with John Bruce Yeh, in a newly commissioned work for clarinet and basset horn composed by James David.
A passionate and committed music educator, she has served on the faculties of DePaul University, the Merit Music School, Peoples Music School, and New Music School in Chicago.
