Violinist Sheryl Staples joined the New York Philharmonic as Principal Associate Concertmaster in 1998, and made her solo debut with the Orchestra in 1999 performing the Tchaikovsky Concerto with Kurt Masur. A frequent chamber music partner with Philharmonic colleagues both in NY and abroad, she has performed for US Ambassadors in London, Paris, Berlin, Hong Kong and Beijing. Ms. Staples teaches orchestra repertoire at the Juilliard School and will soon head to Shanghai for a week of teaching at the Conservatory. Upcoming performances include Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with the NY Philharmonic and principal violist Cynthia Phelps in November.
