Keith Popejoy joined the Pacific Symphony as Principal Horn in 2004, and was awarded the Principal Horn position with Opera Pacific in 2005. He is a native of San Diego, California, where both parents and two grandparents played with the San Diego Symphony. Since 1985, Keith has played with the San Diego Symphony and San Diego Opera, first as a substitute horn and later winning auditions to become Assistant Principal Horn with the Symphony and Third Horn with the Opera. In 1997, Keith won the Principal Horn position for the San Antonio Symphony, playing for two years before returning to San Diego.
Mr. Popejoy has played frequently with La Jolla’s Summerfest since 2002, and was featured in that year’s nationally broadcast performance of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto # 1.
Keith lives in Poway with his wife and three children.
