Principal Harpist of the San Diego Symphony, Julie Smith Phillips is one of the most prominent American harpists today. Silver medalist winner in the 2004 USA International Harp Competition and Bronze medalist in 2001, Ms. Phillips is a founding member of The Myriad Trio and supplements her chamber & orchestral performance schedule with solo recitals across the country. She is the harp instructor at Arizona State University and Adjunct Harp Professor at the University of San Diego. In addition, she is certified as a Suzuki teacher and maintains a private harp studio with students of all ages. Ms. Phillips has a solo album, The Rhapsodic Harp, as well as a recording with The Myriad Trio entitled The Eye of Night. Attending the Cleveland Institute of Music, she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in harp performance where she studied with Yolanda Kondonassis.
This performance marks Julie Smith Phillips’ La Jolla Music Society debut.
