Rainer Crosett has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and principal cellist at Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Symphony and Jordan Halls, and the Amsterdam Concertgebow. He has performed alongside musicians such as Robert Levin, Anthony Marwood, Kim Kashkashian, and the Parker Quartet. As the winner of the 2015 New England Conservatory Concerto Competition, he appeared as a soloist with the NEC Philharmonia. He has also performed at festivals including Yellow Barn, The Perlman Music Program, New York String Orchestra Seminar, Aspen, and Kneisel Hall.
A graduate of the Harvard-New England Conservatory Joint Program, Rainer was recognized with Phi Beta Kappa membership, a John Harvard Scholarship, and an Artist Development Fellowship during his time at Harvard. He received his undergraduate degree magna cum laude in Philosophy and his master’s degree with honors in Cello Performance. He is currently pursuing further graduate studies at the University of Southern California under the tutelage of Ralph Kirshbaum. His previous major teachers have included Paul Katz and Mark Churchill, and he has worked in masterclasses with Bernard Greenhouse, Gary Hoffman, and Yo-Yo Ma.
This performance marks Rainer Crosett’s La Jolla Music Society debut.
